What We Believe
We believe in the Bible
Not as literalists, but not dismissing the virgin birth and the resurrection as mere myths, either. The books of the Bible were written by human beings completely inspired by God's Holy Spirit. As Anglicans, we appeal to Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. We pay attention to what the great saints, scholars and mystics (past and present) have said about Bible interpretation and Church doctrine. Always, the purpose is to draw near to God and to learn how to serve Him and His creation.
God without guilt
God loves everyone and everything unconditionally. If we have done wrong, He does not reject us. On the contrary, He loves us and grieves for us and longs for us to return to the right path so we will be truly fulfilled and happy.
Jesus as the human face of God
God became a human being too - as Jesus Christ. His death on the cross shows how much God loves us. God will never give up on us, no matter how much evil we do Him and others. God's nature is to forgive, and He would like us to be a people who forgives as well.
A better understanding of the Bible
Not all parts of the Bible are equally right or equally important, but it does make God present to us in a unique way. It tells us all we need to know to get to heaven - guiding us in the decisions we need to make in this life before we leave for the next!
What happens after death
This life is like an egg: waiting to be hatched into the real world when we leave this earth. Life there will be new and exciting, in the company of those we love.
Why the universe exists
Believing in God gives true meaning and significance to the existence of everything else. We are made for God and our universe exists (and perhaps many others as well!) as an expression of his power, wisdom, goodness and beauty. Our part in it - insignificant as it may seem to us - is of infinite value to him.
Believing in the Christian religion without rejecting the others
The extraordinary diversity we find in human societies has real meaning and value to God - including the traditional religions such as Judaism, Islam and Buddhism. His message is for everyone without exception.
Rediscovering our ancient tradition in recent times,
Many in our society and even in the Church have lost touch with our sacred past, its ancient wisdom and its beautiful traditional rituals. We are on a voyage of rediscovery, and we warmly invite you to join us!
